The threaded rods from MISUMI are generally used for joining different components in mechanical engineering. As a rule, long threaded rods made of stainless steel or steel are cut to size. Full thread screws, on the other hand, are custom-made threaded rods, since they can be configured to the required length. A full threaded screw, which is also called a set screw, has the additional advantage that it is already possible to select it with a drive for fastening. This means that time-consuming and additional work can be reduced with a full threaded screw before assembly.
The stud or socket set screw is provided with threads on both sides that can have the same or different lengths of threads. These are often used in flange mounting or for sealing surfaces. In most cases, the component connection is made with a nut and washer.
The stud is generally screwed into high-quality components in order to protect the thread in the component from wear during frequent assembly. This is often necessary for softer materials such as aluminum. A stud can also be used to determine with the different thread lengths where component damage is to occur with excessive stresses (target breaking point). Many factors such as materials, thread diameter and number of engaging threads of the studs and socket set screws play a role here. The studs with hexagon socket are also increasingly found in clamping claws (clamping units).
Studs or full thread screws are ideal for clamping and clamping fixtures. Full thread screws and studs are often used for fastening with sliding T-nuts to enable an electrical connection (grounding).
Our product range offers a special form of a full thread screw with an external hexagon. Its installation is simplified by the external hexagon.
Another special form is the full thread screw with scale. These full thread screws allow easy adjustment of distances without the need for another measuring unit.
The full thread screws and studs can also be equipped with the [SWC] or [RAC] option on the opposite side with a hexagon socket or slot. Explicitly for studs the middle part of which is equipped without threads, the studs can be provided with a spanner flat via the option [SC]. The stud with the spanner flat allows for assembly and disassembly without special tools.
Full thread screws required for clamping functions are available in our product assortment under Set Screws with pins. These offer a gentle clamping surface with the pressure pin in order to protect the components to be clamped.
